Acupressure / Shiatsu (Deep Tissue Massage) Pressure is applied to specific areas along the meridians with different techniques such as pushing, kneading, rolling, pressing, etc., to balance the body and mind. Therapists will work on acupuncture points to stimulate and release tension and promote circulation. Shiatsu is a name originating in Japan, meaning "finger pressure " as the fingers are used extensively in the treatment. Acupressure and Shiatsu are quite similar and they both are wonderful modalities to relieve stress and promote health. They both are primarily based on principles of Chinese Medicine, which is explicitly holistic, integrating treatment of the body and mind. Acupressure and Shiatsu are deep tissue massages and are different from Swedish massage, therapists will not apply oil and you will be covered by a sheet or a towel throughout the session, and oil can be applied only when requested. For those who have a lot of Qi and Blood Stagnation, they tend to get soreness after the massages, but nothing to worry about because it is called " the healing crisis", which your body is going through a "re-organizing" healing process.
Foot Reflexology It is based on the premise that there are " reflex areas" in the feet corresponding to all glands, organs parts and systems of the body. Foot reflexology can promote circulation, reduce pain, soothe sore feet, and improve overall healing.
